A canal boat holiday can be what you want it to be- relaxing and mellow, an outdoor challenge or a floating pub crawl. But whatever you make it, there are a few things any suitcase needs...
1)Brunch
Tea bags, coffee, milk and breakfast are essentials! Even if you eat lunch and dinner in the canalside pubs, you’ll want to be able to have breakfast on the boat after a good lie in. The kitchen on board is fully equipped with all the cutlery, crockery and cookware that you’ll need- just bring the eggs.
2)The right gear for the job...
Sorry ladies, it’s time to leave the stilettos at home. Bring a pair of trainers that can withstand a little towpath mud and bring some waterproofs. Fingers crossed the sun will shine but English weather is famously unpredictable! Having the right gear can stop the weather from giving you the blues.
3)Sun Cream
We want you to glow with health- not with sunburn! When the sun shines you’ll want to spend dawn to dusk outdoors- and with summer temperatures peaking at 38 degrees C, sun tan lotion is a must.
4)The soundtrack...
Bring your favourite CDs and create the perfect soundtrack to your holiday. Whether you want to cruise to the blues or rock through the locks, it’s always good to have some music on board.
5)A book/ chess board/ pack of cards
You’ll have plenty of time to unwind and get away from the stress and strain of everyday life- so dig out that novel you’ve been meaning to read or challenge your other half to a game of chess.
6)Bikes/ Fishing rods/ Barbecue
If you want to get out and about, bring the gear! We can secure bulky gear like bicycles to the roof of the canal boat- so they won’t compromise your space and so you can explore the countryside on two wheels. Remember; a canal boat holiday lets you enjoy yourself on and off the canal boat.
7)Creative kit
The fragrant floral air, the dawn light glinting on the water, the chance to get creative! Get inspired by the whole experience and pen a masterpiece- don’t forget your guitar, your watercolours and your notepad.
8)Champagne
It’s your canal boat holiday, so treat yourself in style.
